<br />o <br />'-" <br />,.... <br />00 <br /> <br />Salinity control has been identified as a resource <br />related issue in six new Resource Management Plans in Nevada, <br />New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. <br /> <br />Fish and Wildlife Service <br /> <br />Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) responsibilities are <br />those set forth in the Endang~red Species Act, Fish and <br /> <br />Wildlife Coordination Act, Clean Water Act, National Environ- <br /> <br />mental policy Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Acts, Eagle Act <br /> <br /> <br />and others. P.L. 98-569 provides for FWS participation in <br /> <br />the Colorado River Salinity Control Program. <br /> <br />A decrease in <br /> <br />funding contribution from Reclamation to FWS for activities <br /> <br /> <br />on salinity control projects has resulted in a reduction of <br /> <br /> <br />planning activities related to replacement of fish and <br /> <br /> <br />wildlife values foregone. <br /> <br />In the Grand Valley Unit, a 560 acre block of private <br />land in the Horse Thief area was acquired by Reclamation for <br />wildlife habitat replacement and transferred to the Colorado <br /> <br />Division of Wildlife. In addition, over 500 acres of BLM <br />land have been transferred to Reclamation for inclusion in <br /> <br />the wildlife replacement package. The Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife is developing the management plan for all the <br />property and will be the primary managers. Operation and <br /> <br />maintenance funding will be provided by Reclamation. <br /> <br />Geological Survey <br />The Geological Survey's Water Resources Division <br />provides and analyzes hydrolo~ic information to assess the <br /> <br />-14- <br />
