Suitable for Wilderness Designation with Boundary <br />Modification. <br /> <br />~ <br />& <br />~ <br />, <br /> <br />The selection of this alternative, after review, <br />would result in a recommendation to Congress that <br />about 191,662 acres of National Forest and lands <br />administered by the Bureau of Land Management is <br />suitable for inclusion in the National Wilderness <br />Preservation System. This alternative would further <br />recommend that about 31,080 acres are unsuitable for <br />wilderness designation. The suitable portion <br />includes ]88,362 acres of National Forest lands and <br />3,300 acres of lands administered by the Bureau of <br />Land Management. The unsuitable portion includes <br />29,470 acres of National Forest lands and 1,610 <br />acres of lands administered by the Bureau of Land <br />Management. This alternative is shown on Figure 3. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Unsuitable for Wilderness Designation <br /> <br /> <br />The selection of this alternative would provide that <br />the entire Sangre de Cristo Wilderness Study Area is <br />unsuitable for inclusion in the National Wilderness <br />Preservation System. This alternative would also <br />include a determination of unsuitable for the four <br />WSAs on lands administered by the Bureau of Land <br />Management. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />C. Summary of Environmental and Administrative Consequences <br /> <br />Tables A and B show the expected environmental, economic, <br />and administrative consequences under each alternative. <br />In summary, the major changes are in the timber available <br />for harvest, potential for water yield improvement, <br />potential for maintenance and improvement of wildlife <br />habitat, elimination of conflicting uses, and improvement <br />of the manageability. <br /> <br />16 <br /> <br />('C2624 <br />
