<br /> <br />San Juan-Chama <br />Water Accounting <br />Albuquerque Area Office <br />May 1996 <br /> <br />The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of May was computed to <br />be 470 acre-feet (af) as shown in Table 3. There were 2730 af net San Juan-Chama <br />(SJ-C) losses. as shown in Table 2. There were 30.760 af of diversions through <br />Azotea Tunnel this month. <br /> <br />There was a total of 150 af of Natural eRG) released from Heron, all of which was <br />seepage. There was no SJ-C water released from Heron. <br /> <br />There was no precipitation at Heron Reservoir. The May average for recent years <br />(including this one) is 1.52 inches. The monthly computations for Heron <br />Reservoir are summarized in Tables 1-3. <br /> <br />From El Vado. 262 af which was held-over at the end of April. was released by <br />Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD) to the Cochiti recreation pool. <br /> <br />From Abiquiu. 1084 af of Cochiti recreation pool water, temporarily stored but <br />en-route from Heron. was released to Cochiti recreation pool. Of the 1084 af. <br />652 af arrived as inflow to Abiquiu from Heron May 1 and 2. for a net-effect of <br />432 af from Abiquiu to Cochiti r~creation pool. <br /> <br />MRGCD borrowed from City of Albuquerque (The City) 4174 af. released from Abiquiu <br />to meet irrigation demands. The City also released from Abiquiu 225 af to Jemez <br />recreation pool. <br /> <br />Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 575 af. Evaporation <br />loss on the reservoir was 25 af. Table 4 summarizes San JUan-Chama water at <br />Otowi. <br /> <br />There were no State Engineer letter-requested releases for contractors made in <br />May. <br /> <br />Estimated sediment deposition in the San Juan-Chama pools at Abiquiu and Jemez <br />Canyon Reservoirs. and Cochiti Lake are presented in Tables 5A-5C. Storage and <br />evaporation of Rio Grande water in El Va do and Abiquiu Reservoirs are shown in <br />Table 6. <br /> <br />All data are provisional and subject to revision as final data are collected and <br />analyzed. <br />
