'1\(1'\ ["":1
Ol!ui~V

July 6, 1993
Page 5

Uncompahgre Valley Project Information

,
,

,I

"

d. Nine Canals Serving the UVWUA
Agricultural Demands. Each of the nine
member canals of the UVWUA will have a
single-valued physical capacity in CFS.
The demand factors of acreage, C. U. factor
table and irrigation efficiency will also be
user-specifiable for each individual canal.
However, the water rights, project
affiliation and return flow attributes of
these individual canals will not be user-
specifiable.

5. AB Lateral Hydropower Facility. This facility is discussed
separately under Info Theme No.9.

6. Return Flows and "Wasteways." There are return-flow
relationships among the individual UVWUA canals that are
significant to the correct modeling in the UVP sub-system. Since
users can modify acreages and efficiencies for these individual
demands in ways which might cause return flows to a given canal
to exceed its demands, a system of "wasteways" is required to
prevent the possibility of infeasible solutions. Return-flow
locations, distributions and lag times for the UVP, as well as the
system of "wasteways," will all be hardwired and non-user-
modifiable. This is consistent with the general principle that
many parameters of the Uncompahgre Valley Project components
of the model are too complex to be modified by users. The
simplifying assumption that users will not be permitted to modify
UVP return-flow locations should also simplify the requirements
for the "map view. "

7. Customized Output Utilities. Certain predesigned reports will
enable users to get logically related outputs from the model
without having to know which links represent what information,
or even what kinds of information are available. (A "report"
amounts to a predesigned spreadsheet with user-friendly column
headings for the output data and links into the binfile.) This type
of support is especially important with respect to components of
the model which are hardwired and uniquely defined, where the
user won't have a clue about the meaning of the contents of the
binfile, itself, even if he has a network diagram.
