Felix Sparks, Director of the State of <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board, the undersigned consultants have <br /> <br />reviewed all available pertinent data relative to the above- <br /> <br />mentioned dam sites, The sites were examined in the field with <br /> <br />engineering and geological personnel from the U. S. Bureau of <br /> <br />Reclamation and with Mr. Cecil Osborne, engineer fOl' The Riverside <br /> <br />Irrigation District. In addition, the writers visited the offices <br /> <br />jJ; <br />':.r' <br />.~ <br /> <br />of engineers of the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation and of the con- <br /> <br />., <br />~ <br /> <br />sultants for The Riverside Irrigation District and conducted re- <br /> <br />search into our own files rela ti ve to the geology and soils of <br /> <br />the area. <br /> <br />It was explained by Mr. Sparks that the U. S. Bureau of <br /> <br />Reclamation has iadicated a preference for a site, des:i,gnated as <br /> <br />the "Narrows" site, located at a point on the South Platte River, <br /> <br /> <br />approximately 7~ miles upstream from the city of Fort Morgan, <br /> <br />Colorado. He also stated that the members of The Riverside <br /> <br />Irrigation Disttict were of the opinion that a site farther up- <br /> <br />stream might be preferable. The upstream site would be located <br /> <br />,,( <br /> <br />near the town of Hardin. Colorado and designated as the "Weld <br /> <br />County" site. In actuality three alternative Weld County sites <br /> <br />.. <br />'> <br /> <br />were shown to the writers. These were named the upper Weld County <br /> <br /> <br />site, the lower Weld County site and the Osborne site. <br /> <br />Although there arc many factors which must be considered in <br />
