<br />e <br /> <br />PROJECT PLAN <br /> <br />Pine River project extension <br /> <br />An extension will be constructed to the existing Pine River project, <br />located in 6outh\vestern Colorado and northwestern H'ew Hexico about 20 <br />miles east of Durango, Colo. The extension will provide irrigation water <br />for about 15,200 acres of fuJ.1 service land, of which about 1,940 acres <br />are w'ithin the Pine River Indian irrigation project. The extension will <br />involve enlargement and extension of eight canals and ditches diverting <br />from Pine River, a new diversion dam, and several small distribution <br />laterals. <br /> <br />Smith Fork project <br /> <br />The Smith Fork project will be constructed in west-central Colorado <br />along the Smith Fork of Gunnison River near Crawford. It will provide <br />water for about 2:300 acres of fuJ.l service land and 8,200 acres of sup- <br />plemental service land. Recreational opportur.ities also will be pro- <br />vided. Construction features will include the Crawford Reservoir with <br />14,000 acre-feet of capacity, a diversion dam, feeder canals, and laterals. <br /> <br />Florida project <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The Florida project will be constructed in southwestern Colorado on <br />the Florida River. It will provide a :f'uJ.1 supply of water for about <br />6,300 acres of land and a supplemental supply for about 12,700 acres. <br />Construction features will include the Lemon Reservoir with a capacity <br />of about 23,000 acre-feet, a diversion dam, and distribution and drain- <br />age systems. An existing canal also \1ill be enlarged. Operation of the <br />project also w:i.ll provIde flood control and some enhancement of fish and <br />wildJ.ife values in the area. <br /> <br />Silt project <br /> <br />The Silt project will provide water for about 1,900 acres of full <br />service land and 5,400 acres of supplemental service land between Rifle <br />and Ellt Creeks in west-central Colorado. The project also will enhance <br />fish and wildlife values in the area. Construction features will include <br />the Rifle Gap Reservoir of 10,OOO-acre-foot capacity, a puzqping plant, <br />di version dam s.nd feeder canal, and laterals and drains. Some existing <br />works will be rehabilitated. <br /> <br />Hammond project <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The Hammond project in north\.estern New Mexico will divert San Juan <br />River water for irrigation of about 4,000 acres of full service land <br />along the river in the vicinity of Farmington and Bloomfield. Principal <br />features of the development will be a d.i version dam, distribution canal, <br />p~ing plant, a~d lateral and drainage systems. <br /> <br />8 <br />
