Fluor-
spar deposits in the western part of Thomas Range occur in
pipes. veins and disseminated deposits, but only those in
pipes are economically important. The pipes are localized in
shatter zones adjacent to faults and intrusive breccia bodies,
and occur in dolomites. The fluorspar deposits contain
uranium with some samples containing as much as 0.33 percent
uranium.

"Coal resources of Colorado". by E. :R. Landes, Bulletin l072-C.
This is a part of the program to reappraise the coal resOUrces
of the United states. Coal~bearing:areas are shown ona map.
and coal reserves are listed by townshiP. rank of coal, thickness
of over-burden. and thickness of co~l beds. Brief geographic
and geologic description of each area are included.

"Areal geology of the Placerville q~adrangle". byA. L. Bush.
C. S. Bromfield. and C. T. Pierson. ,Bulletin 1072-E. Sedi-
mentary rocks ranging from Permian to Cretaceous in age occur
in a broad, northwest-trending syncline and a subsidiary dome;
these are cut by three systems of normal faults. Dioritic sills
occur at the southeastern corner of the quadrangle. Tabular
mineral deposits in the Entrada sandstone contain vanadium and
subordinate uranium. and form a nearly continuous elongate layer
exposed over a distancB of 2~ miles;

"Geology of uranium deposits in Triassic rocks of the Colorado
Plateau region" > by W.E. Finch. Bulletin 1074-D. These de-
posits are an important domestic source of uranium, second only
to those in rocks of Jurassic age. The report describes three
mineral belts that contain most of the large deposits. nearly
all in the Shinarump and Moss Back members of the Chinle for-
mation. The deposits are illustrated in t ext and maps and com-
pared with the Jurassic deposits.

-2-
