<br />37 <br /> <br /> <br />000804 <br /> <br />Hamilton, Harper, Harvey, Haskell, HOdgeman, Kearny, Kingman, <br />Kiowa, Labette, Lane, Lyon, Marion, McPherson, Meade, Montgomery, <br />Morris, Morton, Neosho, Ness, Pawnee, Pratt, Reno, Rice, Rush, <br />Scott, Sedgwick, Seward, Stafford, Stanton, Stevens, Sumner, <br />Wichita, Wilson and Woodson 0 In each of the above counties, the <br />Southwestern Division Corps of Engineers surveyed: <br /> <br />*AII urban areas with population of 1,500 or moreo <br /> <br />*AII rural or wholesale water districts that served 1,500 <br />persons or more 0 <br /> <br />*The two largest ci ties in each county, if the county did <br />not have two or more cities with 1,500 or more populationo <br /> <br />*The only city in the county, if the county did not have more <br />than one cityo <br /> <br />Data Collection Procedures (Kansas Water Office) <br /> <br />The Kansas Water Office "1984 Survey of Water Use for PUblic <br />Water Supply" (see Appendix), covered the remaining Kansas <br />counties that were not included in the Crops of Engineeres data <br />collection effort; representing the Kansas-Lower Republican, <br />Marias des Cygnes, Missouri, Smoky Hill-Saline, Solomon and Upper <br />Republican river basinso <br /> <br />In the these counties, all public water supplies that had at <br />least one direct source of water supply were mailed a "Survey of <br />Water Use for Public Water Supply" by the Kansas Water Officeo <br />Two follow-up mailings were made to nonrespondents and the <br />overall response rate was approximately 80 percent, with <br />completed surveys received from all major public water <br />supplierso The data collected by the Kansas Water Office were <br />for calendar year 1984. <br /> <br />A manual edit was conducted for each survey form that was <br />returned, to determine if all data items were completed or if any <br />of the data appeared to be unrealistico Also, computer edits of <br />the survey data were made to ensure that columns totaled properly <br />and to determine if the computer calculation of gallons per <br />capita per day (gpcd) water usage fell within reasonable limitso <br />Questions arising from the editing phase of the survey were <br />generally resolved by direct telephone follow-up to the <br />respondent and/or by reviewing any appropriate data that may have <br />been entered onto the Division of Water Resources water use file, <br />as part of the Kansas Water Database 0 <br />
