Assignments for present meeting

3. The'Chaiman briefly reviewed the purposes and membersJ:Up of the
committee. He informed the group thatth!, Water Conservation Board had
employed Consulting Engineer John C. Page to. .review the report on the first
stage of the .Gunnison-Arkansas Project.

4. At the last meeting, it was generally understood that the Arkansas
Valley members would consider problems incident to uses for municipal aDd
other purposes in the Arkansas Valley, while the "estern Colorado members
of the committee would consider problems incident to replacement storage in
Western Colorado.

Minutes of previous meeting

5. The draft of minutes of the November 24, 1948 meeting was approved
and the Secretary was instructed to furnish copies to the Director' of the
Colorado Water Conservation Board for distribution to mambers of that
organization.

Municipal water requirements in Arkansas Valley

6. Mr. Christy informed the committee that since the last Imleting he
had met several times vdth representatives of the Valley towns to ascertain
their sentiments with respect to securing municipal water needs and their
desires to have a Valley pipeline added to the project plan. With. the ex-
ception of two communi ties, all towns in the Valley wa.nt the Valley pipe-
line included as part of the project plan. The present sources of water
supply are ~nerally of undesirable quality and the cities desire to improve
the quality of their water supply and to secure a more dependable source of
supply. He stated that the City of Pueblo needs additional water supply but
has made no commitments as yet. He anticipates that the City will submit a
request in the near fUture. 'Mr. Hoper disoussed water needs by the City of
Colorado Springs for municipal purposes.
