That water
would be replaced by new water supplies diverted to the project through
potential feeder canals.

Several reservoirs on Grand Mesa now used for irrigation storage would
be converted'to stable lakes for recreation and fishing through transfer
of their active capacity to Cactus Park Reservoir. Recreational facili-
ties would be provided at Electric MOuntain and Cactus Park Reservoirs
and at the stabilized reservoirs on Grand Mesa. A waterfowl management
area would be developed below the irrigation service area. Acquired and
public lands would be rehabilitated as deer winter range to compensate
for losses of deer habitat caused by the project. Also project flmds
would be contributed to a fencing program to abate problems of deer and
elk depredation compounded by project development.

Estimated Costs ($1,000)

Construction costs (January 1972 prices)
Electric Mountain Dam and Reservoir.
Cactus Park Dam and Reservoir. . .
Grand Mesa Canal . . . . . . . . . .
Cedaredge Canal and Lower Redlands Lateral
Electric Mountain Feeder Canal . . . . . .
Surface Creek Feeder Canal . . . . . . . .
Ward Creek and Fruitgrowers Feeder Canals. .

.'

.

.

. .

. .

.

. ,

Drains . . . . . . . . . . . .

Permanent operating facilities
Grand Mesa recreation lakes. .
Waterfowl management area. . .
Improvement of big game range.
Fencing for deer and elk . .
Recreational facilities. . , .
Tbtal construction cost
Cost of investigations. . .
Total project costs . .

Annual operation, maintenance, and replace-
ment costs (1967-69 prices) . . . . . . .

. .

. .

. . . .

Water Supply

.

17,314
20,381
23,200
5,323
366
3,067
1,266
792
219
2,352
11-20
325
60
1,71~
76,79
772
77,570

.

.

.

197.8

Source: Surplus flows of West Muddy, Cow, Beaver, Hubbard, Terror, Roat- ,
-'cap, Leroux, Surface, Yampa, Kiser, aniiCottonwood Creeks that drain the
east and south slopes of Grand Mesa.

Project Supply (acre-feet at points or diversion)

Irrigation
Municipal and domestic
Waterfowl management area
Total

52,100
5,000
_~9_QQ.
b2;lOO

'3
