<br />o <br />c...' <br />w <br />c.;) <br /> <br />@'l <br /> <br />Transportation, Construction, Services and Households - The three broad <br /> <br />economic categories listed above include a wide variety of activities covering <br /> <br />many hundred Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) categories. <br /> <br />These <br /> <br />activities are spanned by seven sectors: Transportation, Construction, Eating <br /> <br />and Drinking, Lodging, Other Services (Except Professional Services), Rentals <br /> <br />and Finance and Households (Including Professional Services). <br /> <br />The final <br /> <br />demand of all these sectors in 1975 was estimated by one or the other of the <br /> <br />interpolation procedures, primarily the alternative which estimates 1970 and <br /> <br />1980 final demands using the model. <br /> <br />The Household sector final demands and <br /> <br />TGOs were estimated by a process wherein Household final demands from Morris <br /> <br />(1976) were used to "contro 1" estimates of TGO. for 1970 and 1980 using the <br /> <br />model and the estimates of 1975 Household TGO were then estimated as the <br /> <br />average of these controlled values. In this way, Household TGOs and FDs were <br /> <br />calibrated to both the coefficients of the model and the activity levels of <br /> <br />the other sectors. <br /> <br />New Energy Technologies <br /> <br />Six emerging energy technologies were activated in the runs of the UCRB <br /> <br />Optimization mode 1. <br /> <br />Four of these technologies are associated with the <br /> <br />production of oil shale; the other two technologies produced high btu gas from <br /> <br />coal and low btu gas from coal. These technologies, the primary information <br /> <br />sources and some of their physical and financial dimensions are summarized on <br /> <br />Tables 2.7 through 2.12. <br /> <br />Incorporating these technologies into the model involved considerable <br /> <br />modification and re-working of the figures found in the original sourc~ in v' <br /> <br />order to make them consistent and compatible with the economic structure and <br />
