The FWS concluded there are no feasible
alternatives to land acquisition in the Uncompahgre Valley.
However, the possibility exists that some habitat lands could
be acquired through landowner easements rather than by

purchasing.

Grand Valley Unit - Early in the year the Final Fish and

Wildlife Coordination Act Report on this project was

completed. On July 30, 1985, Reclamation was provided with a
Planning Aid Memorandum outlining the proposed location for 7
guzzler/pond sites in the desert area north of the irrigation
lands as part of the habitat value replacement for Stage One.

It was also recommended that deer escape ramps on the

completed 6-mile concrete section of the canal be installed

winter.

Whitney Verification Program, Las vegas Wash Unit - A
Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act Report was completed on
this project. It is anticipated that proposed water regimes
would have a net positive impact on wildlife habitat.

Therefore, mitigation and enhancement recommendations were

. .

not offered.

-16-
