The directors or officers of the companies <br />provide the management and in some instances operate the systems. The <br />larger companies and districts employ a manager or superintendent and <br />operating personnel. They own some maintenance equipnent, but rely on <br />local contractors to perform the major maintenance jobs, The systems <br />are generally maintained in good operating condition. In the past, <br />floods along the South Platte River have done considerable damage <br />to diversion dams, canal headworks, and canals located in the flood <br />plain. This hazard would be materially reduced by construction of <br />the Narrows Dam. <br /> <br />*. <br /> <br />42 <br />
