.

r.- 1-\ 1
14..J \. .......

Plan of Development

the facilities to divert Bijou Creek into Narrows Reservoir could
be constructed at any time to be complementary to upstream works.
No change would be required in the design of Narrows Dam; however,
the allocation of reservoir storage would require minor modifications
to compensate for the added sediment which would be carried into the
reservoir from Bijou Creek.

A potential channel, as studied in 1965, would intercept Bijou
Creek south of the Narrows Reservoir and would extend in a northeasterly
direction for about 30,000 feet to discharge into the reservoir. It
would have a minimum width of 600 feet and a capacity of 400,000 cubic
feet per second with a water depth of 25 feet. Banks on both sides of
the channel would provide lO feet of freeboard. The end of the channel
adjoining Bijou Creek would be 5,200 .feet wide and would lead into a
transition and inlet structure. The bottom and sides of the inlet
structure, the side slopes of the transition, and the side slopes of
most of the main channel would be protected by soil cement.

.

.

36
