The andition of <br />hydroelectric power is also evaluated. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The authorized purposes of the Unit include irrigation, <br /> <br />flood control, fish and wildlife conservation and development, <br /> <br />recreation enhancement, and municipal and industrial water <br /> <br />supply. <br /> <br />Features to be constructed for these purposes are the <br /> <br />Narrows Dam and Reservoir, a fish hatchery, rearing ponds, and <br /> <br />public recreation areas. The existing privately owned Jackson <br /> <br />Lake Dam and Reservoir will be purchased and converted from <br /> <br />irrigation use to recreation and fish and wildlife uses. In <br /> <br />addition, 15,575 acres of project land will be set aside for a <br /> <br />wildlife management unit and a 5-1/2-mi1e-1ong cold water fishery <br /> <br />will be established downstream from Narrows Dam. <br /> <br />Narrows Dam, to be located about 7 miles upstream from Fort <br /> <br />Morgan, will be an earthfi11 structure 147 feet high and about <br /> <br />22,400 feet long. The reservoir will have a total controlled <br /> <br />capacity of 973,185 acre-feet at the top of the flood control <br /> <br />-2- <br />
