Fish collected in June were generally smaller and increased
in size over the season. Figure 4 presents a time line of average
size of kokanee collected from April to November 1995. The larger
fish earlier in the season are the previous years one year old
kokanee.

Figures 5, 6, and 7 present graphs of the eFS discharge at the dam
with the corresponding daily kokanee entrainment rates in 1994, 1995
and 1996 respectively. Highest entrainment rates for kokanee were
seen in July 1995, when highest water volumes through the dam were
occurring. The rate of fish transport was calculated with data from
all netting sessions (including netting that did not collect any
fish). Appendix B presents the details on generation volumes, volumes
sampled and entrained fish densities. Table 1 presents the estimated
entrainment rates of kokanee from monthly data in 1994 through 1996
sampling period. Monthly estimates are based on averaged day/night
sample densities.

Blue Mesa Powerplant 1994
FLOWS AND KOKANEE ENTRAINMENT

.

o. ~
0
0
-
0.3 ..
~
u
tl
~
0.3 II>
ll.
.<:
0.2 ;!
~
II>
-
tl
0.2 ~
;:
II>
0.1 8
<:
ti
~
0.1 -
<:
'"
0.0
APRJ MAY JUNE JULY AUGU SEPT ocr NOY
TIME

!2 3
U
<:
-
'"
'"
'"
< 2
'"
...
'"
III
)1
<
Q

o

Figure 5.
November,

Blue Mesa Dam discharge from April through
1994 and Kokanee entrainment rates.

12
