<br />00002t <br /> <br />CEDAR BLUFF UNIT (4) <br /> <br />D~scription: Cedar Bluff Dam will be constructed on the Smoky <br />Hill River, approximately 5 miles south and 20 miles west of Hays, <br />Kansas. The dam will be a rolled earthfill structure, with a crest <br />length of 11,000 feet and a maximum height of 103 feet. The reservoir <br />created by the dam will have a gross capacity of 368,100 acre-feet. <br /> <br />Program FY48 ($900.000): Work scheduled includes completion and <br />issuance of plans and specifications, and starting of actual construc- <br />tion during the latter part of the fiscal year. Prefabricated houses <br />will be procured for a Government camp. <br /> <br />Accomplishments FY48: Designs and specifications for Cedar Bluff <br />Darn have been completed but will not be issued until fiscal year 1949. <br />Specifications for the Government camp hove been completed but con- <br />struction will not be started until fiscal year 1949. Surveys are in <br />progress on the acceso road and utility relocation. Costs to June 30, <br />1948 were $125,647. <br /> <br />BUFFAIQ RAPIDS PROJECT-No 2 (5) <br /> <br />Doscription: This project includes the Shirley, Terry and Fallon <br />Units, located on the Yellowstone River in the vicinity of Terry, <br />hontana. Two pumping plants are to be constructed on the Fallon Unit. <br />The preliminary plant on the Yellowstone River will have an ult~ate <br />installation of three 24-seeond-fcet units operating against a 45-foot <br />head. The relift plant will consist of two pumping units, each capa- <br />ble of delivoring ~O second-feet against a head of 90-feet. <br /> <br />Program FY48 ($232.300): A contract was in force for construc- <br />tion of the pumping plants, main canal, and lateral system and was <br />scheduled for complotion in December 1948. <br /> <br />Accomplishments FY48: A contract for pumping plants and canals <br />was completod on December 6, 1947. Costs to June 30, 1948 were <br />:~230,J54. <br /> <br />CANYOl~Y UNIT (6) <br /> <br />Doscription: Canyon Ferry Dam will be located on the main <br />Missouri Rivor, about 17 ffiiles oast of Helena, Montana. It will be <br />n concrete gravity-type dam with a maximum head abovo the river bed <br />of 172 fect, with a crest length of 1,000 feot. Canyon Ferry Reser- <br />voir will have a total storage capacity of about 2 million acro-feet. <br />The project plan includes a 50,000 kilowatt powerplant. <br /> <br />35 <br />
