<br />COLORADO-BIG THOMPSON PROJECT (1) <br /> <br />Marys Lake and Estes Power Plants, Olympus Dam <br />and Horsetooth Feeder Canal. <br /> <br />Description: ~~rys Lake powerplant will be located on the south- <br />west side of Marys Lake and will be a reinforced concrcte structure <br />approximately 62 feet wide and 64 feet long. Estes powerplant will <br />be located on the right bank of the Big Thompson River and will be a <br />reinforced concr~te structure approximately 98 feet wide and 145 feet. <br />long. <br /> <br />Olympus Dam will consist of a concrete gravity-type spillway sec- <br />tion at the right abutment and an earth embanlanGnt, extending from the <br />concrete section across the river channel to the loft abutment, with <br />a total crest length of approximately 1,880 feet and a maximum height <br />above the river bed of about 56 feot. Horsetooth Feeder Canal will be <br />13 miles long and contain four tunnels. <br /> <br />. Program FY48: Construction will be continued on Harys lake and <br />Estcs poworplants and according to the contractor's schedule, will be <br />65 percent complete at the end of fi~cal year 1948. <br /> <br />Work on 01ympus Dam will consiGt of foundation stripping, con- <br />crete placing, grouting, stripping of borrow pits, and placing of em- <br />bankment. Contractor's schedule calls for 62 percent completion at <br />tho end of fiscal year 1948. <br /> <br />Contracts have been awarded for the construction of tunnels 2, 3, <br />4, and 5 on the Horsetooth Feeder Canal and are scheduled for 73 per- <br />cent completion by the end of the fiscal year. <br /> <br />Accomplishments FY48: Excavation has been completed for Marys <br />Lake powerp1ant and a start has been made on placing concrete in the <br />substructure and in the switchyard. This contract was 34.1 percent <br />complete with 47 percent of contract time elapsed. <br /> <br />Excavation at Estes powerplant was completed and cleanup work was <br />in preparation for placing concrete in substructures. This contract <br />was 16.8 percent complete with 47 percent of the time elapsed. <br /> <br />Excavation for foundation has been completed at Ol~npus Dam, and <br />placing of embanlanent has been started (155,000 yards), and a start <br />made on placing of concrete (13,300 yards). The contract was 58.7 <br />percent complete and 37 percent time elapsed. <br /> <br />Excavation was completed for tunnels 2, 3, 4, and 5, and a start <br />made in placing concrete in the arch and floors. Total contract for <br />Horsetooth Feeder Canal and tunnels is 59.1 percent complete with 54.7 <br />percent of time elapsed. . <br /> <br />32 <br />
