<br />I <br />J <br />, <br /> <br />i <br />I. <br />I. <br />(.. <br />,. <br /> <br />000D18 <br /> <br />COLORADO-BIG THOMPSON PROJECT (1). <br /> <br />Granby Dam, Dikes, and Pumping Plant <br /> <br />Description: Granby Dam will be approximately 885 feet long and <br />will have a maximum height of 232 feet above the bed of the river. <br />Four earthfill dikes will be built in the low places in the rim of <br />the reservoir. <br /> <br />Granby pumping plant is a reinforced concrete plant with three <br />intako conduits, intake structure, intake canal, three steel outlet <br />pipes and four deep well turbine pumps. The construction of the <br />Granby Pump Canal consists of earthwork, structures, installation of <br />gates, hoists, valves, and.metal work. <br /> <br />The structures conaist of a concrete box culvert, three metal <br />pip~ crossings over the canal, a bridge, drainage inlet, road crossing, <br />turnout to thE; wasteway, and the inlE;t to the Shadow Mountain <br />Reservoir . <br /> <br />Program FY48: Work will be continued by the contractors on the <br />Granby Dam and DikiJS and will consist of grouting of the main dam, <br />concrete and earth embankment-plscing operations. The contractor <br />estimated that the dam and dike No. 3 would be 55 percent complete by <br />the end of fiseal year 1948 and that the pumping plant and pump canal <br />weuld be 34 and 75 percent cQmplete respectively. <br /> <br />Accomplishments FY48: Granby Dam and Dike were 54.3 percent <br />complete with 53.5 percent of tho time elapsed. Grouting of the dam <br />foundation was completed on November 1, 1947 and grouting of the <br />diversion tunnel on January 11, 1948. The upstream cutoff wall was <br />completed on June 9, 1948. <br /> <br />Thc Granby pumping plant was 34 percent complete with 63 per- <br />cent of the time elapsed. <br /> <br />The Granby Pump Canal was 70.6 percent complete with 51.6 per- <br />cent of time elapsed. The excavation for the inlet to Shadow Moun- <br />tain Reservoir was completed and the wasteway was completed. The <br />contract for dikes Nos. 1, 2, and 4 was 62 percent complete with 62 <br />percent of time elapsed. <br /> <br />31 <br />
