OOOlJ15 RlVERTON PROJECT (28) ". Description: The Riverton Project is located in Fremont County, Wyoming, on the ceded portion of the Wind River Reservation. The proj- ect receives its water supply from Wind River and tributaries, with principal storage at Bull Lake Reservoir and supplementary storage at Pilot Butte ~eservoir (152,000 acre-feet capacity). Pilot Butte power- plant has a c~pacity of 1,600 kw. Fro~ram FY48 ($3.352.893): As of June 30, 1947, 42,500 acres were under irrigation. The construction program will provide for a total of 52,000 acres by June 30, 1948. Construction will include enlargement of the Wyoming Canal (2d Division), completion of Pilot Canal, construc- tion of \./yoming Canal from Sta. 883 to Wyoming Tunnel, construction of Wyoming Tunnel, and initiation of construction of Wyoming Canal from the tunnel to the end. Funds were scheduled for completion of the Pilot Laterals and Lost \{ells Laterals. Irrigation water is scheduled to be available on this system in May 1948. Funds were scheduled for con- struction of the Wyoming Lateral system from Sta. 883 to the tunnel and from the tunnel to the end. ., Accomplishments FY48: A contract for Pilot Canal and Laterals was completed and the Lost Wells Lateral system was essentially complete (98 percent). Two contracts were in force at the end of the fiscal year for Wyoming Canal and drains. Construction was started in June on the North Pavillion Lateral system. Eight separate contracts were awarded for construction of Government buildings and utilities for the Government camp. The majority of these contracts were small and were completed toward tlle end of the fiscal year. Costs to June 30, 1948 were $2,969,089. KORTES UNIT (27) Description: Kortes Dam and powerplant will be located in Carbon County, Wyoming, on .the North Platte River. The dam will be a concrete gravity structure 230 feet above the foundation, and have a crest length of 440 feet. The powerplant will have a generating capacity of 36,000 1:w.
