<br />OOOlJ15 <br /> <br />RlVERTON PROJECT (28) <br /> <br />". <br /> <br />Description: The Riverton Project is located in Fremont County, <br />Wyoming, on the ceded portion of the Wind River Reservation. The proj- <br />ect receives its water supply from Wind River and tributaries, with <br />principal storage at Bull Lake Reservoir and supplementary storage at <br />Pilot Butte ~eservoir (152,000 acre-feet capacity). Pilot Butte power- <br />plant has a c~pacity of 1,600 kw. <br /> <br />Fro~ram FY48 ($3.352.893): As of June 30, 1947, 42,500 acres were <br />under irrigation. The construction program will provide for a total of <br />52,000 acres by June 30, 1948. Construction will include enlargement <br />of the Wyoming Canal (2d Division), completion of Pilot Canal, construc- <br />tion of \./yoming Canal from Sta. 883 to Wyoming Tunnel, construction of <br />Wyoming Tunnel, and initiation of construction of Wyoming Canal from <br />the tunnel to the end. Funds were scheduled for completion of the Pilot <br />Laterals and Lost \{ells Laterals. Irrigation water is scheduled to be <br />available on this system in May 1948. Funds were scheduled for con- <br />struction of the Wyoming Lateral system from Sta. 883 to the tunnel and <br />from the tunnel to the end. <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />Accomplishments FY48: A contract for Pilot Canal and Laterals was <br />completed and the Lost Wells Lateral system was essentially complete <br />(98 percent). Two contracts were in force at the end of the fiscal <br />year for Wyoming Canal and drains. Construction was started in June on <br />the North Pavillion Lateral system. Eight separate contracts were <br />awarded for construction of Government buildings and utilities for the <br />Government camp. The majority of these contracts were small and were <br />completed toward tlle end of the fiscal year. Costs to June 30, 1948 <br />were $2,969,089. <br /> <br />KORTES UNIT (27) <br /> <br />Description: Kortes Dam and powerplant will be located in Carbon <br />County, Wyoming, on .the North Platte River. The dam will be a concrete <br />gravity structure 230 feet above the foundation, and have a crest <br />length of 440 feet. The powerplant will have a generating capacity of <br />36,000 1:w. <br /> <br />Program FY46 (83.400.000): <br />tinue. Contract schedule calls <br />of the fiscal year. <br /> <br />Construction of Kortes Dam will con- <br />for 61 percent completion at the end <br /> <br />Accomplishments FY48: Excavation for the dam, powerplant, and <br />spillway tunnel was essentially complete. Diversion of the river was <br />acc~~plished and placinG of concrete in the dam was started in June <br />1948. The dam was 48 percent complete on June 30, 1948, with 72 per- <br />cent of time elapsed. Contract for construction of 16 residences was <br />awarded in May 1948, but notice to proceed was not issued by the end <br />of the fiscal year.
