<br />SHOSHONE PROJECT (29) <br /> <br />. Description: Shoshone Project is one of the oldest reclamation <br />projects, construction having been initiated in 1904. It comprises <br />four divisions: Garland, Frannie, Willwood, and Heart Mountain, with <br />a total irrigable area of approximately 115,000 acres. Water supply <br />is obtcined from the Shoshone River, with storage provided from <br />Buffalo Bill Reservoir, the capacity of which is 456,000 acre-feBt. <br />A powGrplant was previously constructed at Buffalo Bill Dam with a <br />capacity of 5,600 kw. and an additional 5,000 kw. are to be provided <br />by the Heart Mountain pow€rplant now under construction about 3 miles <br />downstream from tho dam. <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />Program FY48 ($2.955.28~): A contract will be let for construc- <br />tion of a concrete-drop structure in the Willwood Canal. Construction <br />will be started on the Ralston Lateral system (1st and 2d units). <br />Work will be completed on the construction of Alkali and North Alkali <br />Creck drains. Construction of the Heart l10untain powcrplant struc- <br />t~~o, undor contract, is scheduled for completion during fiscal year <br />1948, although installation of equipment by Govornment forces will <br />continue into fiscal yoar 1949. Construction of the Heart Butto.Gar- <br />land 69-kv transmission line is scheduled for completion in fiscal <br />year 1948. <br /> <br /><,,~) <br /> <br />~plishments FY48: Construction of the Heart Mountain Canal <br />was essentially completed. (94 percent). The contract for Heart Noun- <br />tain powcrplant advancod to 93 percent complete, with 95 percGnt of <br />the contract time elapsed. Construction of the Heart Hountain-Garland <br />transmission line was retarded due to lack of construction materials <br />and was only 51 percent complete, with l77.percent of time elapsed. <br />Three contracts were let for the construction of the Ralston Lateral <br />system and all are slightly behind the contractor's schedule. A con- <br />tract was awarded for the ~onstruction of a concrete chute on Willwood <br />Canal, but notice to proceed had not been issued at the close of the <br />fiscal year. <br /> <br />20 <br />
