<br />000013 <br /> <br />BOYSEN UNIT (23) <br /> <br />,. Description: Boysen Unit consists of a dam, reservoir, and power <br />plant on the Bie Horn River, 16 miles south of Thermopolis, Wyoming. <br />The dam will be an earthfill type, approximately 150 feet high with a <br />crest length of 1,100 feet. The reservoir will have a capacity of <br />1,493,000 acre-feet. A 15,000 kva power plant will be installed as an <br />integral part of the dam. Construction of the reservoir necessitates <br />relocation of the C.B.&Q. Railroad and U. S. Highway No. 20. <br /> <br />Program FY48 ($5.256.000): A contract will be awarded for Boysen <br />Dam, power plant, and relocation of 13.4 miles of the C.B.& Q. Rail- <br />road. The Government camp will be essentially completed. A contract <br />viII be avarded for clearing the reservoir area. Contracts will be <br />awarded for major equipment for the power plant. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. Accomplishments FY48: The contract for the dam, power plant, and <br />railroad relocation was awarded on August 29, 1947, and notice to pro- <br />ceed was issued on September 29, 1947. The dam was 13 percent c~n- <br />plete with 18 percent of the contract time elapsed, and the railroad <br />relocation was 40 percent complete with 35 percent of time elapsed. <br />Notice to proceed was issued for the superstructure for railroad <br />bridges but no construction activity was reported at the end of the <br />fiscal year. The contract for relocation of U. S. Highway No. 20 was <br />completed November 25, 1947. There were three contracts in force for <br />the construction of a warehouse building, streets, walks, utilities, <br />office building, garage, and residences. These contracts were essen- <br />tislly completed st the end of the fiscal year. <br /> <br />Costs to June 30, 1948 were $5,444,086, or $188,086 in excess <br />of the program. <br /> <br />19 <br />
