Total <br /> <br />$ 5J.O,000 <br />.975,300 <br />1,232,000 <br />6J.O,500 <br />8,284,200 <br />'5150000 <br />Gi12,187,000 <br /> <br />Of the approximately 67 million dollars received by projects <br />other than the Missouri River Basin Project, more than 42 million <br />dollars was utilized on the Colorado-Big Thompson Project alone. <br /> <br />The actual amount of funds remaining unexpended at the end of <br />June 1949 will not be definitely known for 30 days or more, but the <br />above total of almost 182 million dollars oon be said to substantially <br />represent the total expenditures during the fou~year period. <br /> <br />At the present time, 15 major dams are under construction by the <br />Bureau of Reclamation. One diversion dam on the Republican River in <br />Nebraska has been completed and the construction of irrigation systems <br />is under way on the Frenchman-Cambridge Project in Nebraska and the <br />Savage Pumping Project in Montana. <br /> <br />A 30,OOa-acre extension of the Shoshone Project, one of the older <br />projects in the Basin, has been completed and a 50,000-acre extension <br />to the Riverton Project, another of the older projects, is well on its <br />way to completion. <br /> <br />The Heart Mountain POI./8rplant of 5,000 kilowatt capacity is the <br />only powerplant added to the Federal system during the four-year period <br />and was completed late in the. calendar year 19420 <br /> <br />Some 290 miles of transmission lines were completed during fiscal <br />year 1949 and nearly 800 additional miles are under construction to <br />further extend the distribution of power from Federal pcwerplants al- <br />ready built uhen the Hissouri Basin Project was authorized. <br /> <br />During fiscal year 1949, seven major features of the J.lissouri <br />Basin Project were placed under construction and work was continued <br />on eight others. <br /> <br />InvestiGations being made by aeencies of the Department of the <br />Interior, other than the Bure,au of Reclamation, have now reached a <br />point where they have substantially brought their studies in line <br />with the progress being made by the Bureau of Reclamation. <br /> <br />Topographic surveying,of the Basin being made by the Geological <br />Survey, ~lhlle receivine the bulk of the money being made available,. <br />will continue at present to lag behind all of the work in the Basin, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />2 <br />
