A preliminary draft of the repayment contract has been prepared. MOORHEAD UNIT Descri'Otion: The t.ioorhead Unit is on Powder River in !<lontana. In !<lontana, 42,600 acres of land, lying in the valley between the Nontana-Hyoming State Line and the mouth of the river, are to be sup- plied with water for irrigation by a series of pumping plants. The water supply will be provided by the Noorhead Reservoir, with an ulti- mate capacity of 975,000 acre-feet. .. Program FY49 Funds available, $617,959. The accnss road and Governmont camp were scheduled to be com- pleted and construction was to start on the dam. Accomplishments FY49 Costs to June 30, $497,920. A contract for constructing 14 pre- fabricated houses was completed and two other contracts for utilities were in progress. llo construction ~Ias started on Moorhead Dam although specifica- tions are being prepared. SUN RIVER PROJECT Descriptio~: Sun River Project is located on the Sun River, west of Great Falls, Montana. The projoct is prepared to su!,ply water to 107 ,000 acres. Hater is diverted from the North Fork of the Sun River into Pishkun Reservoir, and thence into the Sun River Slope Canal for irrigation of the land. Program FY49 Funds available, 030,751. Drainage work was to be con- tinued, using Government forces. Accomplishments FY49 Costs to June 30, 028,138. Some 1,300 feet of drain had been excavated by the end of June. 4'3
