00000J FRENCHMAN-CAMBRIDGE UNIT ~escription: The Frenchman-Cambridge Unit is located along the Republican River in southern Nebraska. The proposed works Idll ex- tend from Enders, Nebraska, eastward along Frenchman Creek and the main Republican River to Orleans, Nebraska. The Unit as now planned will include 57,720 acres of land under the following canal systems: Cambridge, 17,300 acres; Red "allow, 1l,J,l0 acres; l4eeker_Driftwcod, 16,440 acres; Frenchman, 12,570 acres. Three storage reservoirs will be constructedo Enders Dam, now under construction on the Frenchman Creek near Enders, Nebraska, will have storage capacity of 74,000 acre-feet, Medicine Creek Dam, now being constructed on Medicine Creek, eight miles northwest of Cambridge, Nebraska, will have a storage capacity of 93,000 acre-feet; Trenton (Culbertson) Dam on which construction will be started early in fiscal year 1950, will be located on the Republican River two miles west of Trenton, Nebraskao The reservoir will have a storage capacity of 172,000 acre-feeto To serve the area, two new diversion dams are required on the Republican River, and a total of approximately 200 miles of main canals will be buH t.
