PROJECT FEATURES IN OPERATION DURING WATER YEAR 1990 <br /> <br />Ruedi Reservoir was operated for flood control, recreation, and fish and <br />wildlife purposes. Water from Ruedi Reservoir is available for sale on a <br />year-by-year basis, under temporary contracts based on present needs, and <br />for the four long-term contract holders. <br /> <br />Turquoi se Lake was operated for regu1 at ion ,of Project and nonproject water <br />on a service basis, as well as for incidental fish and wildlife and <br />recreation purposes. <br /> <br />Twin Lakes and Mt. Elbert Forebay (a single purpose storage facility for <br />pumped-storage peak power development) were operated for regu1 at ion of <br />Project and nonproject water on a service basis, as well as for the <br />operation of Mt. Elbert Pumped-Storage Powerp1ant. <br /> <br />Pueb 10 Reservoi r was operated for regu1 at ion of Project and nonproject water <br />on a service basis, as well as for flood control, fish and wildlife, and <br />recreation purposes. <br /> <br />Runoff on the West Slope was below normal with inflow to Ruedi Reservoir <br />at 78,900 acre-feet (60 percent of normal). West Slope imports to the <br />Arkansas River Basin were maximized throughout the year to collect as much <br />water as possible. Total imports were 46;610 acre-feet. <br /> <br />Maximum temperature at Meredith occurred 'on June 24, 1990, with 900, the <br />minimum temperature was recorded at -I5f on January 4, 1990. Maximum <br />precipitation from snow was recorded on December 18, 1989, with 0.46 inch <br />of moisture and 12 inches of snowfall. !Maximum precipitation from rain <br />occurred in the three-day period of September 17-19 with 0.77 inch of rain. <br /> <br />The Arkansas River Basin runoff was below normal on the entire system. <br />Turquoise and Twin Lakes native runoff was about 79 percent and 57 percent <br />respectively. Pueblo Reservoir native :inf10w was about 74 percent of <br />normal. <br /> <br />Maximum temperature at Sugar Loaf occurr~d on July 3, 1990, with 850, the <br />minimum temperature was recorded at -15 on December II, 1989. Maximum <br />precipitation from snow was recorded on November 27, 1989, with 0.77 inch <br />of moisture from II inches of snow. Maximum precipitation from rain <br />occurred on July 5, 1990 with 0.70 inch of rain. <br /> <br />Twin Lakes maximum temperature was 841 on July 1, 1990, and mimimum <br />temperature was a -ISO on January 17, i1990. Maximum precipitation was <br />recorded was 0.57 inch on September 28, i1990. Maximum precipitation from <br />snow was recorded on April 30, 1990, wi~h 10 inches of snow and 0.86 inch <br />of moisture. This was the wettest April in the last 30 years with a total <br />of 2.46 inches of moisture. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />
