This system IS capable <br />01 delivenng an average of 48.000 <br />acre-feet of surplus water made <br />available dUring the runoff season <br />which occurs between April and July. <br />Dunng these periods of high flows <br />in the Colorado and Fraser Rivers. <br />waler IS pumped from the diverSion <br />dam to Lake Granby. Once there. Northern <br />Colorado Water Conservancy District <br />NCWCD - The Northern ColoradO <br />Water Conservancy Dlstnct (NCWCD) <br />was established In 1937. Its original <br />charge was to promote and develop <br />the C-BT system and 10 distribute fhe <br />water supply developed by that <br />system to the water users within the <br />District boundaries. <br />The C.BT diverts and stores runoff <br />tram the headwaters of the Colorado <br />River and delivers J! to the waler users <br />of fhe District as a supplemental water <br />supply for agricultural. mUniCipal and <br />industrial purposes. <br /> <br />The C.BT system consistsol a total <br />of ten reservoirs, thIrteen dams. six <br />power planfs. three pumping plants. <br />the assocIated canals and waterways. <br />and the necessary control and <br />measurement faCilities. The Alva S <br />Adams Tunnel is the means of <br />conveYing thiS collected water 13.1 <br />miles through the Continental Divide <br />to the eastern slope. After leaving the <br />tunnel the water falls through six <br />power plants Installed as a part 01 the <br />system by the U.S. Bureau of <br />ReclamallOn (USSR). The sale of thiS <br />power helps to repay the costs of the <br />C-ST ProJect. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />
