c:>
c:>
o SPECIAL EEFECTS
C\.I

Water development such as would be ~ovided by the Yellow Jacket Project
is essential to the growth of the three major aspects of the local
economy--mineral production, agriculture, and recreation.

Development of the Yellow Jacket Project has long been advocated by local
residents, other western slope interests, Colorado State officials, and
private industries as a means of stimulating mineral, agricultural, and
recreation developments. The State of Colorado and the conservancy
district have contributed funds toward project investigations.

Any serious environmental effects may be eliminated by the studies now
in progress. Secondary effects may be caused by the use of the municipal
and industrial water for the development of the natural resources. Strict
control of these industries will be maintained to assure they meet state and
federal requirements for environmental and polution control.

5
