<br />c:> <br />c:> <br />o SPECIAL EEFECTS <br />C\.I <br /> <br />Water development such as would be ~ovided by the Yellow Jacket Project <br />is essential to the growth of the three major aspects of the local <br />economy--mineral production, agriculture, and recreation. <br /> <br />Development of the Yellow Jacket Project has long been advocated by local <br />residents, other western slope interests, Colorado State officials, and <br />private industries as a means of stimulating mineral, agricultural, and <br />recreation developments. The State of Colorado and the conservancy <br />district have contributed funds toward project investigations. <br /> <br />Any serious environmental effects may be eliminated by the studies now <br />in progress. Secondary effects may be caused by the use of the municipal <br />and industrial water for the development of the natural resources. Strict <br />control of these industries will be maintained to assure they meet state and <br />federal requirements for environmental and polution control. <br /> <br />5 <br />
