storage reservoirs above Meeker, Colorado, and providing an alternate
for it below Meeker; pumping to project lands and point of use for oil
shale to reduce streamflow reduction; and reduce further the project
service to new cultivated lands.

PURPOSES SERVED

Municipal and Industrial Water.--The Yellow Jacket Water Conservancy
District has requested 71,500 acre-feet of Yellow Jacket Project water
to serve the development of oil shale and coal resources in the area.
The development of these industries will necessitate a rural municipal
system for the White River Valley to serve the influx of people associ-
ated with the industries.
