(" .;)
,,-,..,;0

.

Western Slope Collection System

It is anticipated that 1971 may mark the first importation of water from
the western slope through the Charles H. Boustead TUlmel. Lining of
the tunnel mayor may not be completed by the start of the spring runoff.
Only 3 months of diversions, May through July, are temporarily envisioned
for 1971. There are only three diversion points complete on the western
slope, these are Chapmlm Gulch, South Fork of the Fryingpan River, lmd
Fryingpan River lmd Marten Creek. Present plans caU for making fish
bypass from tlIese tlIree points in proportion to each point's share of
the entire collection system. For planning purposes, data from our
collection system yield and sizing studies were used to determine the
diversions in 1971. Data on diversions from these studies would meet too
requirements for proportional fish bypass at the coIlection system, but
would be somewhat conservative at those times when the fish requirement
at Norrie controIled, as the untapped portion of tlIe coIlection syr;tem
would undoubtedly make up tlle required fish flow at that point.

.

Charles H.
