(BR, <br />$30,000) <br /> <br />Public involvement will be used to help develop public awareness, support and/or <br />informed consent for the Grand Valley water management project (GVWM); fish screen <br />at the Grand Valley Irrigation Company Diversion Canal, and fish passage on the <br />Colorado River at the Price-Stubb Dam, the Grand Valley Project Diversion Dam <br />(Colorado River) and Hartland Dam (Gunnison River). Total out year cost: <br />-$30,000/year. <br /> <br />" <br />I <br />I. <br />I <br />II <br />[, <br /> <br />12C I&E/96--: Coordinated Reservoir Operations (BR, $43,800) PLACEHOLDER until the <br />portion which should be charged to the Recovery Program is identified. <br /> <br />Public involvement on coordinated reservoir releases in the upper basin to supplement the <br />water supply and assist in attaining the target flows for the critical habitat reach of the <br />Colorado River. Activities include preparing press releases, public announcements, and <br />conducting public meetings. An extensive mailing list has been assembled to keep <br />interested parties informed. Public meetings will be scheduled as needed to explain <br />annual operating plans for each participating reservoir and to receive public comment. <br />Total out year cost: $-43,800/year. <br /> <br />12E I&E/96--: Floodplain Restoration (FWS, funded under C-6) <br /> <br />The goal of the habitat restoralion program is to restore or enhance natural floodplain <br />function that supports recovery of endangered fish in the upper Colorado River basin. <br />Public involvement strategies include: direct contact with key publics; direct mailings of <br />pertinent Floodplain Habitat Restoration and Recovery Program information; media <br />relations and use of exhibits and displays; and using the Land Acquisition Coordinator <br />(Dave Soker) to foster relationships with area residents and officials, and develop flow <br />easements for floodplain properties.
