<br />(;, <br />c <br />C' <br />~. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />Markets <br /> <br />The San Juan Basi~ because of its relative isolation from <br /> <br />outside sources of supply, furnishes a natural market for its <br /> <br />own products, and will continue to do so, especially if the <br /> <br />mining industry, slowly reviving during the past five years, <br /> <br />continues its present growth. For many products local prices <br /> <br />are maintained at Denver levels. Vfueat is milled locally at <br /> <br />the Long Hollow flour mill or hauled to Durango, Farmington, <br /> <br />and Kirtland mills. Cannery facilities are available at <br /> <br />Farmington. Livestock generally sells locally at <br /> <br />Denver prices less the regular freight rate. Improvement in <br /> <br />highway transportation has fostered extension of the local <br /> <br />market to towns throughout the southwest. ],Jany of these towns <br /> <br />have little or no sustaining agriculture and must depend on <br /> <br />outside sources for poultry, eggs, milk products, fruits, and <br /> <br />-," <br /> <br />vegetables, and to an increasing extent these requirements are <br /> <br />being met from the San Juan Basin. Other products find a ready <br /> <br />market in southern California cities. Butter is shipped to the <br /> <br />west coast daily. <br /> <br />2.5 <br />
