The
Bureau of Reclamation expects the reservoir to provide fish
habitat borderline between a warm-water and cold-water fishery.
We broadened the intent of the suggested language and rewrote
the statement to convey the intent that the reservoir will be
managed for sport fishery. The species of fish stocked would
be determined by the type of aquatic environment that will develop.

(14) Page 49, pa,agraph 24: The BSF&W suggested the addition of
a statement saying that "control or management of vegetation will
be undertaken only after consultation with and at the request of
the Colorado Division of Game, Fish and parks and the BSF&W~
The Bureau of Reclamation feels that it should have the basic
decision making responsibility for management of Reclamation lands
in coordination with the cooperating agencies. The paragraph was
rewritten and reads that "management of phreatophytic growth will
be coordinated with the Colorado Division of Game, Fish and Parks,
and the Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife".

(15) Page 50-51, Item 5: The BSF&W comment concerns the adverse
effect that seasonal fluctuation may have on successful fish
spawn. The entire section of the statement concerning the
unavoidable adverse effects associated with the seasonal fluctuations
WaS rewritten and includes the intent of these comments.

(17) Appendices A&B: The BSF&W noted that the hydrographs do
not reflect the presence of the 30,000 acre-foot minimum pool.
This is true because the hydroeraphs are based on a 50-year
sedimentation condition. A sediment distribution study dated
May 19, 1966 shows that 15,200 acre-feet of storage remain in the
reservoir at 50-year sediment conditions. Therefore the hydrographs
reflect the 15,200 acre-feet figure rather than 30,000 acre-feet
initial storage.

Bureau of Mines

The Bureau of Mines did not recommend changes but mentioned it made
an onsite investigation of the mineral resources at the Pueblo Reservail
site in the autumnof 1963. It was concluded that the project, as
proposed, would have no adverse effects on industrial mineral
operations or mineral reSOurces in the areB.

69
