3082

.

Fish shelters will be constructed below the top of the
conservation pool by use of cleared trees which will be
anchored. Selected trees will be left standing to provide
roosts for eagles and other birds.

5. Areas disturbed and scarred including the material sites,
camps, borrow areas, and the temporary roads used during
construction will be rehabilitated by grading, landscaping,
and refilling trenches. Surfaces of borrow pits and waste
areas shall be left in a reasonably smooth and even condition
and may require trimming as directed by the Bureau. Final
excavated surfaces of borrow pits shall be graded to slopes
not steeper than 11:1 below elevation 4,880, and not steeper
than 5:1 above elevation 11,880.

Denuded areas in the vicinity of the marina, the downstream
right abutment borrow area, adjacent roadwork on the south
side of the reservoir area, and borrow areas above elevation
11,880 comprising about 650 acres will have the topsoil re-
placed. Topsoil will be spread to an approximate thickness
of four inches and shaped for future revegetation.

.

6. The Table Mountain riprap source comprising about 20 acres
was chosen from several alternative areas because of its
remote location and limited view from the general public.
Prior to any operations in the rock source area, the contrac-
tor will be required to submit for approval, his plans for
developing the source and transporting the material to the
damsite. This plan shall inClude all environmental protec-
tion aspects including landscape preservation, dust abatement,
etc. A specific elevation or definition of the limits per-
mitted for quarrying will be included in the Pueblo Dam
specifications. The specifications will also include the
Bureau of Land Management's environmental requirements
governing the use of the quarry. Alignment of riprap haul
roads and access roads will be specifically designated by
the Bureau.

Drainage will be provided to insure the quarry does not pond
water. Quarry slopes will be rounded and shaped to provide
a natural appearance. Waste materials will be disposed of
in the exhausted areas of the rock source or in approved
areas adjacent to the source.

7. The Construction Field Office was landscaped to improve the
appearance of the area and blend with the surrounding area.

46

.
