304:3

.

.

.

having a common boundary with Pueblo West and good access,
this area will be readily available to the residents of
Pueblo West for day-use, boating and fishing. Development
will be on a similar scale as Arkansas Point but will provide
camping and transient facilities. A high density camping,
picnicking and trailer parking complex with support facilities
such as a camper store, laundry and showers will be available
to the traveler. Additional picnic and scenic overlooks will
be developed at appropriate locations along the scenic road.
Docking, fuel dispensing, boating supplies at the marina, dry
boat storage, camper store, and laundry facilities will be
concessioner financed and operated.

Rock Creek Area.--Located two and a half (2-1/2) miles west of
the right dam abutment this area should be considered a future
Qr long-range development and developed when the need is so
justified. Considered for this development will be complete
facilities for overnight camping, trailer camping facilities
with individual utility hookups and a concessioner operated
camper store with shower and laundry facilities. Shoreline
slopes should provide reasonable access to the reservoir
waters during its fluctuations at various levels. A sports-
man range with facilities for firing and sighting large and
small bore guns, archery and trap shooting ranges and a riding
stable completes the Rock Creek concession-oriented development.

fisherman Access Points,--In order to provide adequate access
and development for fishing and hunting in the upper portions
of the reservoir, existing county roads will be improved and
terminated with parking areas, Sanitary facilities will be
provided in all areas. Three sites are shown on the accom-
panying plan, (See Figure 5 on page 11). Necessary facili-
ties will be provided by Fish and Wildlife interests.

facilities which will be constructed in conjunction with the
dam and reservoir include a warm-water hatchery and cold-water
rearing unit capable of producing a minimum of 50 tons of
catchable size trout, 1,000 pounds of warm-water fry and
fingerlings, and la to 12 million walleye fry. Water for the
fish hatchery will be taken from the reservoir. The dam is
designed to release the water through multi-level outlets
which provide a means to blend stratified reservoir water
for desirable temperature and oxygen composition for hatchery
use. Effluent from the hatchery will be treated with a
separate facility to control water taste, odor and color
before it is released into the Arkansas River below the dam.

13
