Present plans limit borrow in this area to <br />below 4,919 (top of surcharge pool). <br /> <br />Surfaces of borrow pits will not be required to be excavated <br />to any specified lines and grades, Surfaces of borrow pits <br />and waste areas shall be left in a reasonably smooth and <br />even condition and may require trimming as directed by the <br />Bureau. Final excavated surfaces of borrow pits shall be <br />graded to slopes not steeper than 4:1 below elevation 4,880, <br />and not steeper than 5:1 above elevation 4,880, <br /> <br />Denuded areas in the vicinity of the marina, the downstream <br />right abutment borrow area, adjacent roadwork on the south <br />side of the reservoir area, and above elevation 4,880 will <br />have the topsoil replaced. Topsoil will be spread to an <br />approximate thickness of 4 inches and shaped, <br /> <br />Since the area below elevation 4,796 is scheduled to be inun- <br />dated starting in 1973, the launching ramp and boat basin <br />construction will be coordinated with the prime construction <br />contract for the dam. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Rock Canyon Area,--This area is located immediately below the <br />dam and will provide additional day-use facilities, Visitor <br />facilities include fisherman access, swimming beach and a <br />picnic and field game area, The administering agency's resi- <br />dential and maintenance area and a fish hatchery are planned <br />for this area, <br /> <br />Bo~~s Flat Area,--Located about one and a half (1-1/2) miles <br />west of the right dam abutment and adjacent to Arkansas Point, <br />this development will be entirely day-use oriented. Plans <br />include picnic areas--both single-family and groups, fisher- <br />man access points, scenic overlooks, and field game and play- <br />ground areas. <br /> <br />Portions of this area are in designated borrow locations and <br />will be rehabilitated similarly to criteria designated for <br />Arkansas Point. <br /> <br />North Shore Area.--The North Shore Area located about two and <br />a half (2-1/2) miles from the left dam abutment, will receive <br />the bulk of the out-of-state and tr~nsient visitor use, since <br />it will be readily accessible from U, S, Route 50.
