<br />, , <br /> <br />Western States Water Council <br />Meeting <br /> <br />Boise, Idaho <br />April 12, 1974 <br /> <br />N <br />N <br />w <br />....:i <br /> <br />As to where we are, we thwarted the Administration's attempts <br />to get the legislation that would implement Minute 242 before the <br />Foreign Relations Committees of Congress and instead have the <br />legislation in both Houses before the Interior Committees on <br />which the West is well represented. The ftrst hearing, and mark- <br />up session of the Water and Power Subcommittee of House <br />Interior, went very well for our side. The Water and Power <br />Resource Subcommittee of the Senate Interior and Insular Affairs <br />Committee has scheduled hearings for April 26. This is the first <br />major water legislation to appear before the .Interior Committee <br />for a long time that has a real chance of~enactment. I believe <br />that we can expect prompt and seri.ous consideration.
