<br />Operations <br /> <br /> <br />Reservoirs <br /> <br />Ouring the water year which ended <br />September 30, 1979, the Upper Colorado <br />River Basin yielded 14,371,000 acre-feet, or <br />120 percent of the long-time average_ <br /> <br />This was the highest recorded runoff on <br />the Colorado River at Glen Canyon Dam <br />since 1973_ The disposition of this runoff <br />was as follows: <br /> <br />Acre-feet <br /> <br />Net reservoir storage increase <br />Evaporation loss <br />Bank storage increase <br />Release to lower basin <br /> <br />4,758,000 <br />643,000 <br />748,000 <br />8,222,000 <br /> <br />Total yield <br /> <br />14,371,000 <br /> <br />Water storage at Glen Canyon increased <br />by 5,073,000 acre-feet from October 1978 <br />to September 1979_ Flaming Gorge de- <br />creased 358,000 acre-feet and Navajo and <br />Blue Mesa decreased 11,000 and 19,000 <br />acre-feet, respectively. <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br /> <br />Fonlenelle Dam, Seedskadee PrOject <br /> <br />Fontenelle in Wyoming filled within 40,000 <br />acre-feet of total capacity in July but by <br />the end of September1g79, storage at <br />Fontenelle was 29,000 acre-feet less than <br />September 1978_ Morrow Point and Crystal <br />reservoirs were operated at full capacity <br />nearly the entire year. <br /> <br /> <br />Crystal Dam, Wayne N Aspinall Unit <br /> <br />Rivers <br /> <br />Low releases from Glen Canyon Oam dur- <br />ing April, May, and June allowed the Ser- <br />vice to integrate purchased power into the <br />Colorado River Storage Project Syst~m <br />when it was more readily available. <br /> <br />Minimum releases from Glen Canyon Dam <br />maintained greater than 3,000 ft.'ls during <br />the recreation season and greater than <br />1,000 ft.3/s during non-recreation season. <br />Flows in the Green River below Flaming <br />Gorge Dam were maintained greater than <br />800 ft_'!s_ Gunnison river flows below the <br />diversion to the Gunnison tunnel were <br />maintained greater than 200 ft'ls_ <br /> <br />Reservoir releases were regulated <br />throughout the year to accomplish a <br />reasonable balance with the many pur- <br />poses and objectives for which the fea- <br />tures were constructed. <br />
