Operations Reservoirs Ouring the water year which ended September 30, 1979, the Upper Colorado River Basin yielded 14,371,000 acre-feet, or 120 percent of the long-time average_ This was the highest recorded runoff on the Colorado River at Glen Canyon Dam since 1973_ The disposition of this runoff was as follows: Acre-feet Net reservoir storage increase Evaporation loss Bank storage increase Release to lower basin 4,758,000 643,000 748,000 8,222,000 Total yield 14,371,000 Water storage at Glen Canyon increased by 5,073,000 acre-feet from October 1978 to September 1979_ Flaming Gorge de- creased 358,000 acre-feet and Navajo and Blue Mesa decreased 11,000 and 19,000 acre-feet, respectively. 8 Fonlenelle Dam, Seedskadee PrOject Fontenelle in Wyoming filled within 40,000 acre-feet of total capacity in July but by the end of September1g79, storage at Fontenelle was 29,000 acre-feet less than September 1978_ Morrow Point and Crystal reservoirs were operated at full capacity nearly the entire year. Crystal Dam, Wayne N Aspinall Unit Rivers Low releases from Glen Canyon Oam dur- ing April, May, and June allowed the Ser- vice to integrate purchased power into the Colorado River Storage Project Syst~m when it was more readily available. Minimum releases from Glen Canyon Dam maintained greater than 3,000 ft.'ls during the recreation season and greater than 1,000 ft.3/s during non-recreation season. Flows in the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam were maintained greater than 800 ft_'!s_ Gunnison river flows below the diversion to the Gunnison tunnel were maintained greater than 200 ft'ls_ Reservoir releases were regulated throughout the year to accomplish a reasonable balance with the many pur- poses and objectives for which the fea- tures were constructed.
