INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Al though the Hi gh Pl ains Study is a regional study, the only practical way <br />to analyze the effects of decl ining water suppl ies and or increasing input <br />costs is at a local or subregional level. This local or farm level <br />research is covered in the state A-I and the B-7 element reports and is <br />basically a projection of the optimum combination of crops that farmers <br />would grow given various physical and economic constraints, resource avail- <br />abilities, and prices (commodity and production input). One of the several <br />most important inputs into the projection-modelling is a determination of <br />the prices received by farmers. The determination of these prices at the <br />national level is the major focus of the B-2 element. Other objectives are <br />to determine related national effects of changes in these agricultural com- <br />modity prices. <br /> <br />I-I <br />
