,

.
,

.

.

How do these donations work?

o

The US Bureau of Reclamation - which built, owns and operates both Green Mountain
~ and Ruedi Reservoirs - will manage the releases from Ruedi to meet the needs of users
CT.; who normally rely on water from Green Mountain. 'Using a practice known as "water
i\:< substitution," donated water will be released to senior downstream water rights holders
preventing a call on junior water rights upstream.

Green Mountain Reservoir is nearly 11,000 acre-feet short of water this season. Water
users will benefit because donated water released from Ruedi Reservoir will satisfy
senior rights holders who might otherwise put a "call" on the river thereby shutting off
water to junior appropriators.

Who wil1 benefit from these water donations?

Families and businesses in Grand, Summit, Eagle, Garfield, and Mesa Counties who rely
on water from the Green Mountain Reservoir. Those who will benefit specifically include
YMCA of the Rockies, Eagle County School District, Copper Mountain Consolidated
Metro Water District and the Basalt Water Conservancy District. With the releases from
Ruedi Reservoir, water flows in the Fryingpan River are expected to be similar to those
last summer.

How much water is 5.500 acre.feet?

One acre-foot is approximately 325,000 gallons of water, or roughly enough water to
serve a family of five for one year. One acre-foot is the amount of water it takes to cover
a football field to a depth of one foot.

What is the duration of this aereement?

The water donation agreement is for this year.

Whv is ExxonMobil dona tine water?

Like many of the other entities, ExxonMobil Corporation has rights to water stored in
Ruedi Reservoir that will not be used entirely this year. They are contributing this water
to help alleviate the impacts of the drought in Western Colorado.

How wil1 ExxonMobil benefit from this donation?

ExxonMobil will not be compensated for the water donation. Nor do they plan to seek tax
or other accounting benefits from the donation. Their goal is simple: to help mitigate the
impact of the drought by contributing water they can afford to do without this summer.
