The selection of reservoirs <br /> <br />and the study of conveyance systems will be a significant part of <br /> <br />the plan formulation process. Both existing and potential structures <br /> <br />would be analyzed to determine their adaptability for inclusion in <br /> <br />a statewide framework plan. Because much of the data on storage sites <br /> <br />has been collected by the Bureau of Reclamation, and because of their <br /> <br />experience and file of conveyance data gained during the accomplish- <br /> <br />ment of the Oklahoma Basins Project, the Texas Basins Project, and <br /> <br />the West Texas and Eastern New Mexico Import Project, this work <br /> <br />item is assigned to the Bureau of Reclamation. <br /> <br />The selection and sizing of reservoirs, the location of water <br /> <br />conveyance routes, the reconnaissance-grade designs and estimates of <br /> <br />construction and operation and maintenance costs will be the major <br /> <br />items of this work. <br /> <br />Coordination. Coordination is most important to the orderly <br /> <br />accomplishment of this work and is a responsibility of all the parti- <br /> <br />cipants. However, there is a logical division of the primary respon- <br /> <br />sibilities in this area. The Kansas Legislature directed the Kansas <br /> <br />Water Resources Board to formulate, adopt, and present to the legis- <br /> <br />lature a comprehensive State Water Plan. The Water Resources Board <br /> <br />in turn requested other State agencies, as well as Federal agencies, <br /> <br />to support and aid them in the develo~ent of this plan.
