The trend of increas- <br /> <br />ing ~ater use for municipal, domestic, and industrial, and agricultural <br /> <br />purposes indicates a need for an overall view of the present and <br /> <br />future requirements of this vital commodity. <br /> <br />Municipal. This item is assigned top preference in the use of <br /> <br />water. Shortages, either experienced or anticipated, have a direct <br /> <br />and restrictive impact on population, general business, and industrial <br /> <br />growth of cities. Several municipalities in Kansas are presently <br /> <br />experiencing problems caused by the lack of an adequate and depend- <br /> <br />able water supply. Per capita use requirements and projections for <br /> <br />each ten year period through 2020 are to be established in this study. <br /> <br />Industrial. Industrial expansion is desirable from the stand- <br /> <br />point of a growing and prospering economy. The number and growth of <br /> <br />water-using industries in Kansas are directly associated with suffi- <br /> <br />cient and dependable water supplies. The studies for this item ~ill <br /> <br />include projections for small industries and unit production require- <br /> <br />ments and projections for large industries. <br /> <br />10 <br />
