New Waddell Dam Pumping/Generating Plant
All major second-stage concrete placement has been completed within the plant.
Assembly of Unit No.7 began in October. Work continues on the plant's switchyard,
including erection of the harmonic f1lter equipment. The switchyard is scheduled to
be energized in February 1992. Installation of plant auxiliary equipment continues
throughout the plant, as well as installation and hydrotesting of piping.

Theodore Roosevelt Dam
Realignment and widening sections of the Apache Trail between the power plant
service road and the dam is nearing completion. This work is being performed to
make the roadway safer for the traveling public and for construction workers.

The new river outlet works system is complete with the exception of the outlet valve
system and some tunnel lining. These items will be completed under the Theodore
Roosevelt Dam modification contract. Features of the completed portion of the River
Outlet Works include:

. a 20-foot-diameter, 58-foot-deep lake tap intake shaft that will release water
from Roosevelt Lake to the river outlet tunnel,

. a 16- foot-diameter, 990-foot -long, concrete-lined river outlet works tunnel
that will carry water from the lake tap intake to the gate chamber at the river
below the dam,

. a 12.5-foot-diameter, 356-foot-long steel-lined power penstock tunnel that
branches off from the main tunnel to divert water to Roosevelt Powerplant,
and

. a 310-foot-deep, concrete-lined Ilate shaft that houses equipment for a
13xl6-foot wheel-mounted gate in the gate chamber portion of the river to
control the river outlet works tunnel.

The Roosevelt Dam modifications contract raises the height of the dam 77 feet and
includes new spillways. Full Notice to Proceed was given on September 28, 1991.
The following work features are underway:

. an awegate processing plant was established over the sununer and ag-
gregate was stockpiled; the aggregate plant operation was discontinued until
approximately June 1992 due to the eagle breeding season;

. concrete batch plant and delivery systems are being mobilized and installed;

. replacement of Apache Trail retaininll waIls is being performed;

. demolition and salvage operations on dam features have been initiated;

. cofferdam construction for the left spillway is underway;

. scaling activities are continuing;

. river outlet works liner is being installed and extension of the river outlets
works is in progress;

. power plant deck protection is being installed;

. the diversion pipeline terminal structure excavation has begun;
