<br />'i"' <br />~. <br /> <br />L"') <br /> <br />C~. <br /> <br />N <br /> <br />(.:. <br /> <br />New Waddell Dam Pumping/Generating Plant <br />All major second-stage concrete placement has been completed within the plant. <br />Assembly of Unit No.7 began in October. Work continues on the plant's switchyard, <br />including erection of the harmonic f1lter equipment. The switchyard is scheduled to <br />be energized in February 1992. Installation of plant auxiliary equipment continues <br />throughout the plant, as well as installation and hydrotesting of piping. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Theodore Roosevelt Dam <br />Realignment and widening sections of the Apache Trail between the power plant <br />service road and the dam is nearing completion. This work is being performed to <br />make the roadway safer for the traveling public and for construction workers. <br /> <br />The new river outlet works system is complete with the exception of the outlet valve <br />system and some tunnel lining. These items will be completed under the Theodore <br />Roosevelt Dam modification contract. Features of the completed portion of the River <br />Outlet Works include: <br /> <br />. a 20-foot-diameter, 58-foot-deep lake tap intake shaft that will release water <br />from Roosevelt Lake to the river outlet tunnel, <br /> <br />. a 16- foot-diameter, 990-foot -long, concrete-lined river outlet works tunnel <br />that will carry water from the lake tap intake to the gate chamber at the river <br />below the dam, <br /> <br />. a 12.5-foot-diameter, 356-foot-long steel-lined power penstock tunnel that <br />branches off from the main tunnel to divert water to Roosevelt Powerplant, <br />and <br /> <br />. a 310-foot-deep, concrete-lined Ilate shaft that houses equipment for a <br />13xl6-foot wheel-mounted gate in the gate chamber portion of the river to <br />control the river outlet works tunnel. <br /> <br />The Roosevelt Dam modifications contract raises the height of the dam 77 feet and <br />includes new spillways. Full Notice to Proceed was given on September 28, 1991. <br />The following work features are underway: <br /> <br />. an awegate processing plant was established over the sununer and ag- <br />gregate was stockpiled; the aggregate plant operation was discontinued until <br />approximately June 1992 due to the eagle breeding season; <br /> <br />. concrete batch plant and delivery systems are being mobilized and installed; <br /> <br />. replacement of Apache Trail retaininll waIls is being performed; <br /> <br />. demolition and salvage operations on dam features have been initiated; <br /> <br />. cofferdam construction for the left spillway is underway; <br /> <br />. scaling activities are continuing; <br /> <br />. river outlet works liner is being installed and extension of the river outlets <br />works is in progress; <br /> <br />. power plant deck protection is being installed; <br /> <br />. the diversion pipeline terminal structure excavation has begun; <br />
