The <br />project had called for 232 dams and numerous other devices <br />to reduce serious erosion in the watershed. <br /> <br />Nebraska <br /> <br />A symposium on the Dakota Aquifer, which underlies much <br />of the Ogallala Aquifer (see clippings page C-l4 and C-l5), <br />will be held October 5-6, 1982 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The <br />U.S. Geological Survey, who is studying the aquifer, will <br />co-sponsor the symposium with the National Water Well <br />Association. More information on the symposium can be <br />obtained from Tony Vrana, Nebraska Natural Resources Commiss: <br />State Office Building, 310 Centennial Mall South, Box 94876, <br />Lincoln, NE 68509 (Telephone 402-471-2081). <br /> <br />The Nebraska Natural Resources Commission has prepared <br />a summary description of the Platte River Forum for the <br />Future being conducted by the Commission. The forum process <br />is innovative and the Commission's description is included <br />in its entirety as pages 5 and 6 of this DNB. <br /> <br />North Dakota <br /> <br />Work has commenced on the Garrison Diversion Project's <br />Oakes Pumping Plant. An injunction against the construction I <br />was recently lifted by a U.S. appellate court. The Oakes <br />Pumping Plant will have a capacity to move 112 cfs of water <br />to the Oakes Irrigation Test Area, the first scheduled <br />application of Garrison project water. The $3.3 million cont <br />call for completion in three years (see also pages C-l8 and <br />C-l9). <br /> <br />South Dakota <br /> <br />The South Dakota Department of Water and Natural Resourc, <br />announced the award of the first loans under the South Dakota <br />Water Facilities Loan Program. A total of $l million was <br />loaned for the following projects: <br /> <br />o $300,000 for the CENDAK Project Study. <br />o $380,000 for construction of the Clark Rural Water <br />System serving 450 rural users and seven municipalities <br />o $240,000 for construction of the BDM (Brown, Day and <br />Marshall Counties) Rural Water System serving 217 rural <br />users and two municipalities. <br />o $50,000 for construction of the East Lyman Rural Water <br />System (using Missouri River water) serving 45 rural <br />users and the City of Reliance. <br />b $30,000 for construction (new well) for the East Gregor, <br />Rural Water System serving 100 rural users and the - <br />City of Fairfax. <br /> <br />@ <br />
