<br />7 <br /> <br />~ The United States pumped from domestic, municipal, and irrigation wells <br />located within five miles of the boundary near San Luis the following <br />quantities: <br /> <br /> Year Acre-Feet <br />w:::.. 1975 26,787 <br />0 1976 22,738 <br />(D 1977 22,990 <br />CD 1978 17,900 <br /> 1979 25,418 <br /> 1980 28,527 <br /> 1981 38,463 <br /> 1982 40,954 <br /> 1983 16,707 <br /> 1984 15,467 <br /> 1985 13,635 <br /> 1986 26,346 <br /> 1987 * <br /> <br />Thousands of <br />Cubic Meters <br /> <br />33,041 <br />28,047 <br />28,358 <br />22,079 <br />31,353 <br />35,188 <br />47,443 <br />50,516 <br />20,608 <br />19,078 <br />16,818 <br />32,497 <br />* <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The Commission is continuing, under Minute No. 242, its program for exchange <br />of groundwater data for the major groundwater basins lying partly in the <br />United States and partly in Mexico including the Colorado River delta area. <br />The objective of the exchange is to make available hydrologic, geologic and <br />water quality data in either country, to both Sections of the Commission to <br />enable evaluation of international ground water basins conditions. <br /> <br />* Data to be supplied later. <br /> <br />New Developments <br /> <br />Point 6 of Minute No. 242 provides that: <br /> <br />"...The United States and Mexico shall consult with each other prior to <br />undertaking any new developments of either the surface or the groundwater <br />resources, or undertaking substantial modifications of present <br />developments, in its territory in the border area that might adversely <br />affect the other country." <br /> <br />During 1987, the U.S. Section provided to the Mexican Section the findings of <br />the U.S. Government that the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's plan to salvage <br />seepage waters from the All-American Canal by means of a five well project <br />will not adversely affect the groundwaters at the international boundary. <br /> <br />Data obtained in the Upper San Pedro Basin in the U.S. and Mexico by the State <br />of Arizona and the Mexican Government respectively, resulting from a well <br />measuring program in both countries in March 1987 was exchanged through the <br />International Boundary and Water Commission. <br /> <br />~ <br />
