<br />.-.~. ..'- <br /> <br />r.o <br /> <br />;."'- <br />',_\.) <br />,..oj <br />L,) (d) Water released from Caballo Reservoir in exce88 of Pro- <br />("~ ject requirements and in excesS of watar ourrently released from <br />Elephant Butte Reservoir, shall be deemed Ueable Water released, <br />excepting only flood water entering Caballo Reservoir from tribu- <br />taries below Elephant Butte Reservoir, <br /> <br />EVAPORATION LOSSES Lz <br /> <br />The Commi~sion shall encourage the equipping, maintenance end <br />operation, in cooperation with the United States Weather Bureau or <br />other appropriate agenoy. of evaporation stations at Elephant Butte <br />Reservoir and at or near each ~jor reservoir in the Rio Grande <br />Basin within Colorado construoted after 1937 and in New Mexioo con- <br />struoted after 19Z9. The net ,loss by evaporation from a reservoir <br />surfaoe ehall be taken as the differenoe between the actual evap- <br />oration loss and the evapo-transpiration lesses which would have <br />occurred naturally, prior to the construotion of suoh reservoir. <br />Changes in evapo_transpiration losses along stream ohannels below <br />reservoirs may be disregarded, <br /> <br />"Net losses by evaporation, as defined above, shall be used in <br />oorreoting Index Suppliee for the operation of reservoirs upstream <br />from Index Gaging Stations as required by the provisions of Artiole <br />III and Artiole IV of the Compaot". <br /> <br />"In the applioation of the provisions of the last unnumbered <br />paragraph of Artiole VI of the Compact, <br /> <br />(a) Evaporation losses for which acorued credits shall be <br />reduced shall be taken as the difference between the gross evaporation <br />from the water surfaoe of Elephant Eutte Reservoir and rainfall on <br />the same surfaoe. <br /> <br />(b) Evaporation losses for which aocrued debits shall be <br />reduoed shall be taken as the net loss by evaporation as defined in <br />the first paragraph". <br /> <br />"In determination of Hypothetical Spill and in the application <br />of the provisions of Article VII of the Compact, the correction for <br />change in evaporation losses shall be taken as the difference between <br />tte gross loss by evaporation from Elephant Butte Reservoir, whioh <br />would have occurred if 790,000 acre feet of usable water had been <br />released from Project Storage each year and the corresponding losses <br />which actually did take place." <br /> <br />LZ A1nended at Tenth Annual Meeting, February 14, lS49. <br /> <br />'>1 <br /> <br />,'.. .~ <br /> <br />. <br />
