In the article, the Defenders of <br />Wildlife and Center for Biological Diversity expressed, to the Times writer, concern that the <br />implementation of the Interim Surplus Criteria could further degrade the habitats of the delta and <br />upper Gulf of California, and that the Interim Surplus Criteria should be modified to include flows <br />dedicated to the delta and associated habitats. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Status of Lawsuit in Defenders of Wildlife, et al. v, Babbitt, et al. <br /> <br />On December 15,2000, the California Attorney General's Office filed a memorandum for stay <br />of proceedings pending appeal and expedited consideration in the Defenders of Wildlife, et al. v, <br />Babbitt, et al. lawsuit. The basis for the memorandum revolves around the following four specific <br />points: (I) California is likely to prevail on the merits on appeal to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, <br />(2) California's interests will be irreparably harmed in the absence of a stay, (3) the plaintiff's interests <br />will not be substantially harmed if the Judge's Order is stayed, and (4) the interest of the public favors <br />granting the stay. <br /> <br />WESTERN WATER PLANNING <br /> <br />Glen Canvon Adaotive Manal!.ement <br /> <br />A meeting of the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Work Group is scheduled for <br />Thursday and Friday, January 11-12,2001, in Phoenix, Arizona.
