<br />~..,;~.,~ <br />- - , <br /> <br />Alternative E <br /> <br />Alternative E responds to the growing demand for a broad spectrum of recreation <br />opportunities, particularly those that are of economic importance to local communities. <br />Additional emphasis is given to tourism, four-season resorts. hunting and fishing. and <br />recreation services. These activities will vary in emphasis by community. based on local <br />support and investment. <br /> <br />Theme. Alternative E emphasizes recreation activities and amenities that provide <br />economic benefits to local communities. Land allocations help provide opportunities to <br />recreation-based businesses. support the improvement of developed recreation <br />infrastructure. and provide for consumptive recreation activities. The following <br />commercial uses are favored: <br />. ski.based resorts <br />. outfitting and guide services <br />. tour operators <br />. non-ski-based resorts <br />. developed recreation infrastructure. <br /> <br />Non-commercial recreation that provides significant economic benefits is also <br />emphasized in this alternative. Examples include consumptive wildlife activities such as <br />hunting and fishing, as well as other activities such as hiking and bicycling. <br />Economically important recreation will be emphasized while maintaining or improving the <br />health of forest ecosystems.
