The water quality assessment includes specific sections on
both point and non-point source water quality problems in
each hydrologic area. The assessment provides the basis for
ranking of water quality problems within the Region. This
ranking has been subdivided in two parts: existing problems
and preserving existing high quality waters. Considering
existing water quality problems which need to be corrected
to meet the obiectives of the Clean Water Act throughout the
Region, the most serious water quality problems are
respectively in order presented:

o Acid mine drainage.

o

Nonpoint sources from high growth areas.

o

Point source
communities.

to degrade the existing high quality of the Region's waters
