This assessment includes specific sections
on both point and non-point source water quality
problems in each hydrologic area. The assessment
provides the basis for ranking of water quality
problems within the Region. This ranking has been
subdivided in two parts: existing problems and
preserving existing high quality waters. Considering
existing water quality problems which need to be
corrected to meet the objectives of the Clean Water Act
throughout the Region, the most serious water quality
problems are respectively in order presented:

o Acid mine drainage.

o Non-point sources from high growth areas.

o Point source discharges from high growth
communities.

o Large area soil. disturbances from silviculture
. . . ~
act~vltles. '

With regard to activities which have the greatest
potential to degrade the existing high quality of the
Region's waters or cause an exceedance of water quality
criteria, the most serious water quality problems are
respectively in order presented:

o Hydrologic modifications produced by new municipal
and industrial water projects.

o Non-point sources from high growth areas.

o Point source discharges from high growth
communities.

o Large area soil disturbances from silviculture
activities, mining, and ski area expansion.

-.-, - ' - ;4';,_:_~ . ,._c~~,__~.;:~;.j~~5~~~.:@;~~~-~:!4~~~~~~~;'~~~~~!~~!~@~r~\,
~ _;~~ ~~:.' ~ ,e r ',:-:;.:>~~~~~"~~.;.?~~~:~'i.~~~:'~~~-~'~~~_

."'''''' dit-

. -,-'~"~''''''--''- '.~-' . .

" _-';"'^,c,"~'i'>_'____

.,,-,,~ ,--~~

'';'-'''-'-~~-=~='"

';".""ic."'c1ll

"

, ,."'-'
